We have reached an important milestone in the 2020 Census. More than half of the households in our nation have responded – that’s nearly 80 million responses!

The Census Bureau would like to thank you for your support and ongoing effort to Get Out the Count, as well as your continued outreach to encourage self-response, especially among the hardest-to-count populations. Current times are unprecedented, but they also present an opportunity to reach families digitally across the nation and work towards keeping the 2020 Census in the conversation across channels and platforms. It has never been easier to respond to the census and to help promote the census from your own home.

Through your social media channels, your voice can make a difference. The Census Bureau is encouraging all partners, influencers, community leaders, and trusted voices to join them during a Digital Action Weekend, May 1-3, 2020. Please use #2020Census and/or #Censo2020 when posting on all of your social platforms.

The most important and safe thing you can do is respond online, by phone, or by mail. Your data is protected and it’s confidential. Federal law protects your responses, which cannot be shared with law enforcement, immigration agencies, or housing authorities. Don’t let misinformation keep your friends and family members from responding.

The 2020 Census is more than a population count. It’s about money, power, and data and it’s also an opportunity to shape your community’s future. Our community gets resources based on census population counts, that help pay for hospitals, emergency services, schools, roads, and more. An accurate and complete census is crucial as it helps businesses, community leaders and elected officials make informed decisions every day.

Key message: It’s not too late to respond to the 2020 Census while being safe and practicing social distancing at home. Keep encouraging your family and friends to shape their future now by responding to the census at 2020census.govHelp Spread the Word! Get Resource Guide
