05dec9:00 amJackson Avenue Complete Street Project The public is invited to join Ward 5 Councilman Cedric Crear for a groundbreaking Monday, Dec. 5, at 9 a.m. on Jackson Avenue between E and F Streets to celebrate the beginning of the Jackson Avenue Complete Street Project. Jackson Avenue between H Street and C Street will close to through traffic beginning Monday, Nov. 28, in preparation for roadway reconstruction. The work will begin at H Street and work toward C Street over the course of the project. The project will include installing wider sidewalks, street lights, trees, new water lines and removal/replacement of pavement. As part of the HUNDRED Plan in Action, the project will repurpose Jackson Avenue to improve walkability, multi-modal mobility and enhance the neighborhood through landscaping, lighting and new urban design elements. Construction and closure is expected to continue through June 2023; alternate routes available include Van Buren Avenue and Monroe Avenue for east/west traffic and B Street and H Street for north/south traffic.
